Bring In The Season With These Raleigh Fall Activities

Pumpkin Patches & Corn Mazes

Pumpkin patches and corn mazes are a must for your fall activities in Raleigh. Visit the two retail locations of Shepherd’s Way Farm to pick up your pumpkins, gourds, and mums for the season. At Neighbor Boy Farm (our family-owned farm!), everyone is welcome to use the Cash and Carry Produce Stand at any time. Pay cash to Shovel Head, the metal art “full-time” employee. You can also pick your produce. Just pay the posted prices. Please be respectful and honest as the 24/7 stand uses the honor system.

The Country Store on-site sells homemade goods, produce, and more. Pick up a pumpkin, hay bale, and fall decor to decorate your home! Naylor Family Farm and Corn Maze is open year-round with activities for all ages. My favorite time is fall to see the pumpkins sprinkled across the field, get spooked on the haunted hayrides, act like a kid on the super mega ride-n-slide, and get lost in the corn maze.

See the Fall Colors

The best place to see the leaves changing is in the North Carolina mountains. The next best place is at the lakes around NC. Many lakes have biking and walking trails and hiking areas for you to be fully immersed in that fall feeling. For a more relaxing outing, visit the numerous parks around Raleigh and participate in their fall activities. Join their mailing list for a fun Fall Bucket List and all the latest updates.

State Fair

When talking about fall activities in Raleigh, the first thing out of most people’s mouths is the State Fair! Who doesn’t love rides, games, shows, livestock competitions, and, of course, the food. I can taste the cotton candy, hot dogs, funnel cakes, and lemonade. For 2023, there are new food options that are conveniently labeled on a food map online. Cheer on your favorite horses and riders at the Horse Show. Learn more about livestock care and animals at the Livestock Show. Find general information about the fair on their website, with daily activities annotated on the calendar of events. If you are a planner like me, you can buy your admission tickets, ride tickets, wristbands, and more online before you head out. Be sure to download the two scavenger hunts from their site to provide an educational experience for your kids at the exhibits.
